Board of Directors

This incredible cycling community is infused with the spirit and energy by the women on the Board of Directors – and also by the members themselves. Here’s a little about the Board to get to know us better as a whole.

Petunia Mafia Board

PATTY NILSEN | Founder, Vice President and Team Designer

Founder of Team ten20 (Petunia Mafia’s predecessor team) and professional athletic wear designer, Patty designs each and every year’s gorgeous kits. Patty races cyclocross, works out harder than most pro athletes, and is a sparkle of joy to all she meets. Her nickname “Petunia” worked its way into her design consulting business, Petunia Designs, and now Petunia Mafia!

LAURA WISNER | President and Ringleader

Laura’s favorite aunt used to call her “Petunia.” So when Patty and Laura began scheming a new name for the cycling team, Petunia had to be part of the title. Laura wonders when a cycling obsession has gone too far as she has cycling-themed art, wine glasses, pint glasses, jewelry, and clothing. She loves racing cyclocross and has a hard time choosing between her road, mountain, and cruiser bikes during the rest of the year.

JULIE BOYLE | Mountain Bike Lead and Master Camp Organizer

Julie’s just like champagne: strong and bubbly! An expert mountain biker, she can often be found combining the two (although riding before toasting). While she dabbles in all things cycling she prefers singletrack with Moab, Rabbit Valley, and Crested Butte being some of her favorite destinations.

BRITTANY HINZ | New Member Recruiter and Enabler

Brittany loves getting women into cycling, and she’s darn good at it. She’s been in the cycling industry for years and has been a Liv Ambassador. In 2018, she tackled both racing cyclocross and baking macarons for the first time.

JEN NICOLL | New Member Liason and Riding Muse

Jen is the newest Board member and we’re glad to have her! She is a self-proclaimed “joiner” and thinks that bicycling is best when combined with good friends, conversation and scenery. Jen completed an Ironman a few years ago and has no plans to do another, but could easily be talked into an Xterra. She loves her road bike but happily cheats on it with her new Liv mountain bike and her new infatuation, cyclocross.
